Family fun by the water in Ain
Camping in the Ain Region means you’re never far from the water. Whether this be the wonderful river Sâone or the magnificent man- made lakes of Les Dombes. It’s the perfect place for rest and relaxation. Swim, canoe, kayak or simply sunbathe on the soft lakeside sands. Wildlife lovers visit the amazing bird park in Villars Les Dombes to admire over 300 species from all over the globe. A truly unforgettable experience for all the family!
City trips from your campsite in Ain
The city of Lyon is just a short drive from the campsite and is a fabulous place for a short city trip. It’s the 3rd largest city in France and its rich mix of culture and history make it an interesting place for the whole family. Bourg-en-Bresse , Chalon and Macon are charming old towns with great shopping and even better restaurants. Although much further away, Geneva is a must see when in this region. Also unmissable is the town dubbed “The most beautiful in France,” the medieval masterpiece of Pérouges. Relax in the picturesque town square with a local brew and watch the world go gently by.
Outdoor Activities in Ain
Ain is a real paradise for those who enjoy an active outdoor holiday. There’s 1,500 kilometres of cycle routes that take you through lush green forests, meandering rivers and inviting crystal-clear lakes . The extremely varied countryside offers some great hiking opportunities, from gentle flat paths, to steep mountainous tracks. Like to fish? Then bring or hire a rod and catch your dinner, to cook back home on your campsite BBQ. It’s the perfect way to round off another delightful day!
Things to see and do near the campsite in Ain
Bourg-en-Bresse is the capital of Ain. This charming, pretty little city hordes a treasure of ancient architecture. Stroll through the streets of the old town and admire the famous 15th century churches. It’s just a stone’s throw away from Camping La Plaine Tonique in Montrevel-en-Bresse and a great spot to enjoy the local Bleu de Gex cheese and delicious wines. Ain is famed for its amazing wines. If you fancy a tasty tipple then Bugey and Macon are a must. And let’s not forget the most famous wine region of them all, Beaujolais. Make the short drive north, from Camping Kanopee Village in Trevoux, to the gorgeous village of Fleurie. Sit down at one of its many excellent restaurants for a marvellous meal and watch the sun set slowly, as you wash away the day with that perfect glass of fantastic Fleurie!
