The bustling resorts of St.Georges de Didonne and La Palmyre have broad sandy beaches and lots of facilities. Saint Palais-sur-Mer has very calm waters making it perfect for children. The 12 km long Grande Plage on Ile d'Oléron is backed by sand dunes and huge pines and is a more tranquil affair. For postcard perfect sands head for the Le-Bois-Plage-en-Ré and Couarde sur Mer on the Ile de Ré. Chatelaillon-Plage is a charming resort with a beautiful seafront and the perfect place for a long lazy lunch.
