The surrounding area of camping Alpes Dauphiné, Gap

The Route Napoleon is one of the most beauitful routes in south-eastern France. It's not entirely sure if Napoleon did use this route after his exile on the island Elba. On his trip to Paris he was undoubtedly impressed by the beauty of the magnificent mountainous landscape that dominates this region.

Some tips for your holiday at camping Alpes Dauphiné in Gap:
  • Gap is a lively city on the route Napoléon and is well worth a visit. There's a beauitful cathedral here and some pleasant, narrow streets to explore.
  • The Massif of Le Dévoluy is a nice idea for a day out.
  • Not far away there are two reservoirs of Serre Poncon and Sautet.
  • A little further a field, but certainly worthwhile is a trip across one of the mountain passes of the Galibier (between Briancon and Alpe d'Huez) or La Cayolle.
  • If you follow the Route Napoleon via the N85 northwards, you will eventually arrive in the city of Grenoble. This is a beautiful city located at the foot of the mountains that teems with art and interesting architecture.
