Camping L'Echo du Malpas, Argentat

A small, green campsite situated beside the Dordogne, a perfect choice for an active holiday. The name of camping L'Echo du Malpas came about because the river flows very quickly here and so it was a difficult passage for the barges, hence the name 'mal pas'.

Why camping L'Echo du Malpas?
  • There's a lovely swimming pool with waterslide and a snackbar close by.
  • Argentat is just a twenty minute walk away and has good restaurants.
  • Canoes can be rented at the campsite.
  • The campsite organises nice trips like walking tours and sometimes an excursion to hunt for gold.
  • Archery and mountain biking are also possible.

The surrounding area of camping L'Echo du Malpas, Argentat

The historic town of Argentat lies in one of the most beautiful parts of the Dordogne. The river here falls steeply and two dams have been built to make manage the flow of water.

Some tips for your holiday at camping L'Echo du Malpas in Argentat:
  • Take a tour through the Gorges de Dordogne or along the Maronne, which runs into the Dordogne at Argentat and the Cère, which runs into the Dordogne somewhere further. The scenery is breathtaking.
  • This area between Argentat and Beaulieu is a true paradise for trout fishermen.
  • You can take a canoe trip along the river but, for something more original, try a trip downstream in one of the wooden barges known locally as a 'gabare'. These were used in the past for transporting freight.
  • Just north of Argentat you'll find a wonderful waterfall at Albussac.
