The Camargue is one of the largest marshlands in Europe originating in the Rhone delta. This unspoilt area is made up of marshes, brooks and lakes and is a beautiful place to explore.

Some tips for your holiday at camping La Marine in Le Grau-du-Roi:
  • The wild horses which run free in the Camargue are famous worldwide. A good way to expore the area is by horseback and there are several stables in the locality. It is at its most beautiful in the early morning.
  • The town of Le Grau-du-Roi is nearby and here, at the mouth of the Rhone, is l'Espiguette, the larges beach in Europe. Enjoy a walk along the beach towards the lighthouse.
  • The pretty seaside resort of Saintes Maries-de-la-Mer is a short distance away.
  • Visit Montpellier and Nimes, both of which are rich in Roman and medieval history. Visit the Maison Carrée and the arena in Nimes.
