The surrounding area of camping Les Vikings, Barneville-Carteret

On the eastern side of the Normandy peninsula of Cotentin are the invasion beaches of the Second World War. The other side, where the campsite is to be found, is quiet with sleepy, peaceful fishermen's villages and endless beaches.

Some tips for your holiday at camping Les Vikings in Barneville-Carteret:
  • You can take long walks along the beaches, and sailing or surfing lovers will have a great time.
  • The bay between Barneville and Carteret runs completely dry at low tide. The difference between high and low tide is amazing here, like the well-known Mont St-Michel a few kilometres to the south. This coastline has far less tourists but those who visit will find that Carteret is well protected against the northern winds.
  • From Carteret you can also make a ferry trip to Jersey or one of the other Channel islands.
  • Pleasant cities to visit are St-Lo with its ramparts and Granville.
