• Consider a trip to Châtellerault with its castle dating from the tenth century and the Pont Henri IV over the Vienne.
• Naturally the chateaux of the Loire are nearby, with Chenonceaux and Chambord being two of the best.
• Don't forget to visit Tours with its many shops and quaint old streets.
• An hour's drive to the west (66km) will take you to Futuroscope, an excellent theme park.
