Safety vest
In France, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Spain and Portugal you must carry reflecting safety vests in your car. With a safety vest you are visible to other road users in case of a problem with the car or after an accident. Vests are required for all the passengers. Vests must meet the European standard EN471, class 2.


Warning triangle and first aid kit
In all European countries you must carry a warning triangle. In case of a problem with the car, when the car becomes an obstacle or danger to approaching cars, other road users have to be given warning. Place the warning triangle in a very visible spot on the road at a distance of 30 meters from your car.
First aid kit
In more and more countries a first aid kit is required but of course it is always wise to have one in your car. Make sure it is has everything you might need.
Spare glasses
In Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany and France it is compulsory for people to carry a spare pair of glasses.


Radar - GPS forbidden
It is now prohibited in France to use equipment in the car for locating radar speed cameras. This has already been prohibited in Switzerland and Germany.
Vehicle lights on during the day
In Hungary, Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Croatia and Portugal it is compulsory to drive with your lights on at all times - including during the day.
