Camping close to some of the best cities in the world!
Are you planning an exciting city break? Why not combine this with a camping holiday! There are several campgrounds close to a city. Transport to the city centre is often easy to do. Enjoy the bustle of the city and the peace of the campsite, the ideal combination!
1. Oui, oui, Paris
The ideal city break destination for the whole family. Visit the famous sights such as Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. Paris isn’t just a city for the adults. The kids will love the Aquarium de Paris, Zoo de Vincennes and Le Jardin d’Acclimatation. One of the best things about a Paris city break has to be Disneyland® Paris! One of our favourite campsite, Iris Parc Le Chêne Gris, is just a 20-minute drive from Disneyland. Directly outside the campsite is a train station that will whisk you off into the centre of Paris in 45 minutes.
2. La Dolce Vita in Rome
Rome is a breathtaking city steeped in history! A trip to this city is like a journey through time. Visit the Coliseum and imagine yourself as one of the gladiators. After that you could go to the Roman Forum where the ruins of the old centre can still be admired. Also a must is a visit to Villa Borghese. On this gigantic estate you will find museums, many hiking trails and one of the oldest zoos in Europe: Bioparco. Stay just 10 kilometers from the centre at Roma Camping Village campsite. A day trip into the city is extremely convenient, just take the car, public transport or the shuttle bus from the campsite.
A beautiful city with class and style. A city trip to Vienna comes highly recommended. Visit Schloss Schönbrunn, the summer palace of princess Sissi. Craving a coffee after soaking up all that culture? There are some fantastic cafes in Vienna and while there, you as well order a Viennese Sachertorte, a chocolate cake with apricot marmalade. Mmm! Donaupark Camping Tulln is located just 30 kilometers from Vienna with a direct bud connection to the city!
4. Jump on the tram on a Lisbon City Break
City and beach: an ideal combination. Both of which can be found in abundance in Lisbon. Costa de Caparica campsite is close to both the city and the beach, making it the ideal holiday base. Do you want to explore Lisbon? A must is a visit to the old castle Castelo de São Jorge. Located on a hill, there is a beautiful view from the castle over the city and the river Tagus. A handy tip for visiting Lisbon with children – a tour onboard the Hippotrip, an amphibious vehicle which tours the city on both the water and land!
5. ‘O sole mio singing in Venice
It is one of the most visited cities in Italy and it is one large open-air museum! Stroll through the narrow streets and over the romantic bridges or take a trip on a gondola. A major attraction of the city is the St. Mark’s Basilica on the central St. Mark’s Square. You can’t stay I Venice without sampling the delicious local cuisine in one of it’s fantastic pizzerias and ice cream parlours. Only 10 kilometers from the city is Village Jolly campsite. This campsite has a shuttle bus that takes you to the centre of Venice in fifteen minutes.
