Getting There and Checking In
We flew into Ciampino airport with Ryanair. Our transport to Camping Fabulous was waiting for us as we had emailed the campsite in advance to arrange a Private transfer ( 60). The short journey only took about 35-40 minutes.
On arrival we checked in with ease and were brought to our mobile via golf buggy. This was very exciting for the kids. We stayed in a fabulous 3 bedroom Waikiki mobile home in the campsite. Our accommodation also had a fine sized kitchen and living area, a shower room and separate toilet. We definitely had more space than many 2 bedroomed apartments you would get in Spain etc. There was a large covered decking area with outdoor tables, chairs and sun loungers. The deck was fantastic for enjoying the beautiful Italian sunshine in the evening. The mobiles homes are in a lovely wooded area which was completely different to anywhere that my family and I have holidayed before.
Our bed linen was pre-booked with Vacansoleil and they were crisp, freshly laundered sheets. My tips would be to pack a few J- cloths, old hand towels and bath towels. We hired 2 towel packs which had 1 bath and 1 hand towel in them.
Camping Fabulous has 2 large swimming pools, one being a proper swimming pool with no floaties or balls allowed. The other being a large splashpool with a slide, which my kids loved. The water was only knee height in the splashpool. There are 2 strict lifeguards on duty, which is great for putting a parents mind at ease over water safety. An abundance of sun loungers line the pool area, however in the peak dates you need to get there early to secure one.
One of the excellent features of the pool area is the snack bar which serves the usual pizzas, burgers, chips and some toasties. It also has a full bar and icecream parlour attached. The entrance to the Pool also has a separate bar, which was great place to relax and unwind. We were always met with a lovely atmosphere and buzz here with most of the campsite guests enjoying a drink there each night. A mini disco provided hours of fun at night in the amphitheatre/stage area.
Camping Fabulous has plenty of other fantastic facilities also which include a Volleyball court, Tennis courts, kids playground. Free WiFi is available in the main areas on site which we found to be very handy. The reception area is a 3 minute walk from the pool area and has a bar with a large screen TV, pool tables, coffee shop, supermarket and a lovely restaurant. We ate at the bar twice and the food was delicious. Adjacent to the reception area is a booking office. Here you can hire bikes, go carts, mini golf or book your day trips to Rome and other parts of Italy.
Getting Around The local Area
The bus and Metro ticket to Rome is €1.90 each way and took about 40 minutes to get to Termini Station. There is a bus stop outside the campsite ( approx. a 3 min walk on the main road ) and this brings you to the Train Station for Rome. We also took this bus to a large shopping mall ( approx. 15mins) which had all the large retail shops.
We really enjoyed our stay in Italy. We found the whole mobile home experience very chilled out and relaxing. I will definitely be returning to Camping Fabulous again. My family and I were extremely happy with the campsite and staff, everything was Fabuloso!!
