Camping Fabulous – One Of Our Best Campsites In Italy And Only A Short Trip From Rome

Read about Jackie’s Family Holiday Adventure In One Of Our Best Campsites In Italy

As my family and I had never been on a camping holiday before, we were extremely curious and excited to experience it for ourselves. After careful consideration we booked Camping Fabulous for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids, just outside Rome, Italy. It looked amazing and the fact that it was so close to Ciampino airport and Rome was the ultimate deciding factor for us.

Getting There and Checking In

We flew into Ciampino airport with Ryanair. Our transport to Camping Fabulous was waiting for us as we had emailed the campsite in advance to arrange a Private transfer ( 60). The short journey only took about 35-40 minutes.

On arrival we checked in with ease and were brought to our mobile via golf buggy. This was very exciting for the kids. We stayed in a fabulous 3 bedroom Waikiki mobile home in the campsite. Our accommodation also had a fine sized kitchen and living area, a shower room and separate toilet. We definitely had more space than many 2 bedroomed apartments you would get in Spain etc. There was a large covered decking area with outdoor tables, chairs and sun loungers. The deck was fantastic for enjoying the beautiful Italian sunshine in the evening. The mobiles homes are in a lovely wooded area which was completely different to anywhere that my family and I have holidayed before.

Our bed linen was pre-booked with Vacansoleil and they were crisp, freshly laundered sheets. My tips would be to pack a few J- cloths, old hand towels and bath towels. We hired 2 towel packs which had 1 bath and 1 hand towel in them.

Facilities Onsite

Camping Fabulous has 2 large swimming pools, one being a proper swimming pool with no floaties or balls allowed. The other being a large splashpool with a slide, which my kids loved. The water was only knee height in the splashpool. There are 2 strict lifeguards on duty, which is great for putting a parents mind at ease over water safety. An abundance of sun loungers line the pool area, however in the peak dates you need to get there early to secure one.

One of the excellent features of the pool area is the snack bar which serves the usual pizzas, burgers, chips and some toasties. It also has a full bar and icecream parlour attached. The entrance to the Pool also has a separate bar, which was great place to relax and unwind. We were always met with a lovely atmosphere and buzz here with most of the campsite guests enjoying a drink there each night. A mini disco provided hours of fun at night in the amphitheatre/stage area.

Camping Fabulous has plenty of other fantastic facilities also which include a Volleyball court, Tennis courts, kids playground. Free WiFi is available in the main areas on site which we found to be very handy. The reception area is a 3 minute walk from the pool area and has a bar with a large screen TV, pool tables, coffee shop, supermarket and a lovely restaurant. We ate at the bar twice and the food was delicious. Adjacent to the reception area is a booking office. Here you can hire bikes, go carts, mini golf or book your day trips to Rome and other parts of Italy.

Getting Around The local Area

The bus and Metro ticket to Rome is €1.90 each way and took about 40 minutes to get to Termini Station. There is a bus stop outside the campsite ( approx. a 3 min walk on the main road ) and this brings you to the Train Station for Rome. We also took this bus to a large shopping mall ( approx. 15mins) which had all the large retail shops.

We really enjoyed our stay in Italy. We found the whole mobile home experience very chilled out and relaxing. I will definitely be returning to Camping Fabulous again. My family and I were extremely happy with the campsite and staff, everything was Fabuloso!!

A Week In Port de Plaisance Campsite

One Of Brittany’s Best Campsites – Find Out How Clare Got On In Port de Plaisance

During September 2016, my husband, son and I spent 1 glorious week on a Vacansoleil campsite in the beautiful French town of Benodet.  My only complaint about the holiday was that it was too short.  We’ll go for 2 weeks the next time!  We were travelling with a 2 year old  who loved running around and exploring the ship. The ferry crossing was smooth and as a result, slept quite well on-board.  On arrival in Roscoff, we only had a short 90 minute drive to  Benodet, Brittany which was extremely convenient.

Port de Plaisance Campsite

During our week in France, we stayed in Port de Plaisance campsite just outside the town.  The campsite was truly fantastic. Most noteworty of all the facilities was the pool area. It was amazing. It had a couple of indoor & outdoor pools with slides and toddler pools which were a great hit with the whole family. There were also a couple of different playgrounds and bouncy castles which provided hours of excitement and fun for the kids in the campsite.  The restaurant on site was wonderful. We found out on our first evening there that you could also get takaway from the restaurant. We found this to be a great option as it meant we could take our delicious food back to our mobile home and enjoy it on our veranda.  The accommodation was perfect for us, it had everything we needed including cbeebies on TV.

Benodet, Brittany

The location was incredible which really added to our overall enjoyment of the holiday. I cannot say enough about Benodet town, I really liked it. It is small with a nice selection of cafes and restaurants, a beautiful beach and the port area is gorgeous.  You can walk to the town, beach or the port from the campsite and there’s a charming walk running from the campsite along by the water all the way in to the port and on to the beach.  We did plenty of walking and exploring in the beautiful surrounding area. Whether you’re looking to spend time relaxing on site or you want to get out and discover the stunning surrounding countryside, Port de Plaisance is a great campsite that has it all for the perfect family holiday in France.

We really enjoyed our stay and definitely hope to go back soon – for 2 weeks this time though.
