Camping Domaine de la Paille Basse

Built in a former medieval farm complex. Now equipped with luxurious facilities such as the wonderful swimming pool, a water playground and water slides. Yes, here on top of the hill in the middle of a large forest you will find that perfect camping combination of nature and comfort. Relax with a good book while the birds sing their merry tunes all around you in the trees. The kids meanwhile are having a blast with the camping and entertainment activities; from treasure hunting, dancing and face painting to mini motorbike racing , pony riding and quad biking riding.

  • Oh la la. What an astonishing view. Especially from the swimming pool area. but that's a given, being on top of a hill in the middle of a vast forest area.
  • The campsite is spacious and generously planted with deciduous trees. So you can enjoy your holiday in peace and privacy with lots of room around you. The slightly hilly terrain will soon get you into that real outdoor living mode.
  • There is plenty to do here for the kids and you. Especially fun in the Water. Jump in the 10-meter pool and do a few laps, while your kids have fun in the heated swimming pool, the heated children's pool, the water playground and of course whizzing down those 4 water slides located between the trees.
  • Is there lots of entertainment? Well, Ouí! This family campsite is buzzing in the summer months of July and August. With a mini disco, treasure hunts, face painting and much more. Six days a week, every morning from 10:00 to 12:00, the kids' club is the place to be for 4- to 12-year-olds. Take your young kids to that big sandy playground to watch the chickens running around in their pen.
  • Teens explore the Teen Lounge. Play billiards, make holiday best friends. Or just chill. This teen lounge is open two days a week in July and August.
  • Fancy some action? Hop on a mini motor bike, go quad biking or pony riding (for a fee) or sign up for the canoe excursion. You can also play a free game of volleyball, football, tennis or table tennis. And for more relaxed entertainment, the kids head for the playroom with pinball machines, table tennis and video games.
  • All that action made you hungry? Sit down by the restaurant's terrace, where you can feast on local dishes under a 100-year-old chestnut tree with dozens of lights. Fabulous atmosphere! For your daily shopping, stroll to the mini market in the morning.
  • Must-do: walk straight into the forest from the campsite. You can see where the most beautiful hiking routes begin on the campsite map.

Some tips for your holiday at Camping Domaine de la Paille Basse in Souillac

  • Fancy a day of sightseeing? Get in your car and drive to Gouffre de Padirac. It's a very special dripstone cave. In addition to stalactites and stalagmites, you will see crystal clear cave water here. In one special spot you look through a round hole right up to the sky. Here, the sunlight casts apple-green moss on the rock walls. Simply magical!
  • The Autoire waterfall is another natural gem close to your campsite. The waterfall is hidden deep in the forest. So put on your walking shoes. Along the way you will be treated to two amazing sights: the village of Autoire and Château des Anglais, a castle set between two rock walls. And in the forest while you're climbing, you can hear that you are getting closer to sight number three… Yes, there it is: the waterfall. A lovely place to cool off in.
  • Take a ride on the original "Le Truffadou" steam train in Martel and be amazed as you chug high above the green landscape, past rocks and over viaducts.
  • The Dordogne is also just around the corner. Here you can visit the holy city set right against a wall: Rocamadour. And also the Château des Milandes with a great view over the river and Château Castelnau, where the kids can play at being knights and princesses. Feeling hungry? The Dordogne is famous for its delicious cuisine. So take a seat in a restaurant in Carsac, Aillac or Beynac.
  • For even more entertainment, head to the neighbouring region of Corrèze. With its beautiful medieval villages such as Turenne, romantic waterside towns, such as Argentat. And the museum of the Neanderthals in La Chapelle-aux-Saints.
