      Family Camping fun by a lake or river in The Black Forest

      The Black Forest has plenty of wonderful spots for fun in the water. The closest to your campsite is the Kinzig river, just 2 km away and is great for canoeing or kayaking adventures. Fancy swimming in the beautiful clean waters of an idyllic natural lake? Then head for the delightful lake Waldmattensee , 24 km away near Kippenheimweiler. Make sure you pack a picnic. The largest and most famous lake in the Black Forest is Lake Titisee. It’s 75km away, but worth the drive, as it’s perfect for swimming, sailing, windsurfing, or just strolling along the water front. Lake Achern ( 50km away) is ideal for kids and has gently sloping shallow waters and a playground. Fishing enthusiasts visit the Silver lake in Alpirsbach and catch their fish of the day to cook up on the BBQ back at the campsite.

      Outdoor activities near your campsite in The Black Forest

      Camping in the Black Forest region is a real treat for outdoor lovers. Watersport’s enthusiasts can canoe or kayak on the river Kinzig and swimmers seek refreshment in the cooling waters of the nearby lake Waldmattensee. With over 22.000 km of hiking and biking routes in the Black Forest, there’s always plenty of interesting places to discover near your campsite, such as the wine route to Gengenbach. The most picturesque trail is the Kinzigtal Jakobusweg trail that runs along the Kinzig valley past picture postcard little towns. Hiking was made popular in the Black Forest in the late 19th century by Philipp Bussemer from Baden-Baden, who started the 1st ever hiking information centre. Mountain bikers head for Kandel to ride through the hilly woodland. It’s also a great place for paragliding! Feel like a fishing trip? Then head for the Silver lake in Alpirsbach.

      For some real me time pampering go to Baden-Baden , the largest city in the Black Forest area and one of Europe’s most fashionable spa towns. Enjoy a little old world luxury and let the thermal baths work their magic, returning you fresh and revitalized to your campsite. Want to go to Germany’s warmest city? Then head for Freiburg, just 48 km away from your campsite. This delightful town borders the Black Forest’s lovely vineyards. Stroll through its quaint cobbled streets with half-timbered houses, then stop in one of its fabulous beer gardens along the canal for some of the local brew. Don’t forget to ride the cable car up to the Schlossberg mountain lookout tower for the most amazing views of the city. Wine enthusiasts visit Offenburg, the official wine capital of the Black forest region. Enjoy the local tipple along with some culinary delights at one of its charming cafés. Further afield ( 150km) but well worth the visit is Germany’s oldest University town, Heidelberg. Stroll through the beautiful baroque old town and you’ll see why Poets, painters and writers are so charmed by this place

      Things to see and do near the campsite in The Black Forest

      Nature plays a big part in the interesting sights that the Black Forest offers close to your campsite. Take a scenic drive along the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse to Baden-Baden to see the central Black Forest region’s sleepy old villages. Then continue to the gorgeous forests of the Kinzig and Gutach Valley and visit the highest water fall in Germany ( 163 metres high) in Triberg. ( 31 km) . Beer lovers stop in the brewery town of Alpirsbach and wine lovers head for Offenburg where you can join the walking wine route. Feeling active? Then cycle the 14 km route to the wonderful 18th century town of Gengenbach. For a real thrill take the kids to the Rodelbahn Gutach, the wooden rollers coaster near Gutach. Europa Park is just 45 minutes away from your campsite in the Black Forest and will make a great day out for everyone, as it’s Germany’s premier family entertainment park.
