          Family Camping fun by the lake in Trentino

          Trentino has some wonderful lakes close to your campsite that will guarantee endless hours of glorious family fun by the water.  Lake Caldonazzo is the largest lake in Trentino and is watersports heaven!  It’s also just 50 metres from the San Cristoforo campsite. So wake up, wander down and take a dip before breakfast. What a great way to start the day!  Lake Levico is less than 2 km away from its larger relative and a more tranquil affair. It’s one of the cleanest lakes in Italy and famed for its crystal clear waters, thriving birdlife and beautiful beaches. Kids have a blast here rope swinging into the pristine waters! The large and popular Lake Garda is 1 hour away , but worth the journey for a great day out. Go swimming, do watersports, hike around the lake, shop or eat in one of the lovely villages there or simply lie down by the shore and enjoy the amazing ambiance of the stunning surroundings.

          Outdoor activities near your campsite in Trentino

          Trentino is heaven for outdoor enthusiasts and there are so many great activities to choose from close to your campsite. Lake Caldonazzo is the largest lake in Trentino and is a real outdoor paradise and perfect for windsurfing, sailing, diving, swimming and rowing. It’s also great for fishing. Catch some trout, perch or pike to cook back at the campsite. Being the warmest of all the Alpine lakes, it’s also ideal for kids to go swimming. The Trento area has some magnificent hiking and biking routes. Pack a picnic at the campsite and set off on 2 wheels to explore the stunning surroundings.  For something truly special, head off to the local stables and ride through the wonderful Trentino mountain countryside on horseback!  For thrills with the kids head for the Acropark Rio Centa tree top adventure park. It’s close to the campsite and has courses to suit all kinds of ages and fitness levels.

          City trip near your campsite in Trentino

          There are lots of interesting places to visit in Trentino not far from your campsite. The capital of the region Trento is famed for the majestic 13th century Buonconsiglio Castle and is just a 20 minute drive away. Stroll across the fabulous Piazza Duomo, past gorgeous Renaissance fountains and drop into the fascinating museum in the 13th century Palazzo Pretorio to admire the magnificent works of art on show. Fancy mixing culture with a long, tasty lunch? Then head for the medieval castle of Peregrine. It’s both a marvelous museum and a delightful hotel. History, fine modern art and delicious wine. Sound good? Then visit the cultural centre of Trentino, the city of Rovereto. Work up a thirst at the War history museum and the Modern Art Museum. Then sit back, relax and watch the sun set with a glass of magnificent Marzemino. Don’t mind venturing a little further afield? Then Riva del Garda on Lake Garda makes for a fantastic day out!

          Things to see and do near the campsite in Trentino

          When in Levico Terme a visit to one of its famous thermal baths is a must. Spoil yourself with a relaxing time at one of the wonderful spas and return to your campsite completely rejuvenated! Keen historians head for the Passo di Vezzena in Levico Terme to see where the bloody battle of Col Basson was fought in Trentino during the 1st world war. Wine lovers go to the Azienda Agricola Balter winery in Rovereto to see how the local wines are produced. Of course a tasty tipple after a thirst inducing tour is obligatory! Want to experience the ultimate in outdoor art? Then visit the Art Sella contemporary art project in the beautiful woods which run from the Malga Costa mountain to Borgo Valsugana.  To get an incredible view of both lakes, drive or cycle to the little hillside village of Tenna. This lovely village lies just a few kilometres east to the south side of Lake Caldonazzo, close to your campsite. It’s the perfect location for that picture postcard holiday snap. Stop at the local restaurant for a lovely fresh pizza and wash it down with Trentino apple cider.
