Western Pomerania is located in northwestern Poland and shares a border with Germany. Excellent motorway networks mean the region is easily accessible, most of the drive there is via German motorways. It's about 900 km from Utrecht, which is closer than, say, the south of France or Lake Garda in Italy. One day's drive from Holland and you're there.

    • Arriving in the Netherlands from UK ports, you drive via Hanover and Berlin.
    • From the north of the Netherlands the quickest way is via Hamburg and Rostock.

Enjoy the beaches and campsites of Western Pomerania

A beach holiday in Poland? It may not be the first destination that comes to mind, but child-friendly sandy beaches are a top attraction in Western Pomerania. In this region of the Baltic Sea, you'll find large white or golden sandy beaches. Most beaches are well-kept and equipped with family-friendly facilities: catering facilities, sanitary facilities, parking, and so on.

Pomerania means "Land by the Sea" and you'll be spoilt for choice with an array of beaches to enjoy. The most popular are near Lazy, Dabki, Mielno, Unieście and the famous spa town of Kolobrzeg, where you can walk its famous 200-meter-long pier. Charming fishing villages populate the coast with smaller beaches to explore. Stay at our popular campsites in Western Pomerania:

Family days out in Western Pomerania

Western Pomerania is a great destination for families. There is plenty to do for children. Make sure to visit the Whale Park in Rewal, a combination of an amusement park and an educational center. Another family attraction is the miniature park in Międzyzdroje with famous buildings from the Baltics. Visit Hortulus in Dobrzyca: a colorful collection of English, French and Japanese gardens....the kids can spend hours wandering in the giant hornbeam maze!

Follow in the footsteps of Vikings

Wolin, in the far northeast of Western Pomerania, was once a legendary Viking stronghold. It was the home base of the infamous Jomsburg Vikings. In Western Pomerania, during the summer months the Wolin Viking festival takes place and historic battles are reenacted. For a more peaceful cultural excursion, climb the centuries-old Gaski lighthouse or wander the streets of the medieval town of Koszalin. Koszalin's St. Mary's Cathedral is well worth a visit as are its vibrant shops and cafes.

    For nature and bird lovers

Storks, grebes, wild swans, herons, sea eagles ... National Park Wolin, also known as Woliński Park Narodowy, is a paradise for bird lovers. This gem is located on Wolin peninsula, right by the sea. There's a wild feel to the place with high cliffs, rugged forests and terrain. In addition to your binoculars make sure to bring your hiking boots!
