Experience the rhythm of an authentic historic dairy farm! Welcome to Hoeve de Pippert, a field of exceptional activity whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. Nestled in the picturesque Betuwe region (the Netherlands orchard), this farm combines with the perfect architectural heritage, large grassy areas and total disconnection. Here, we forget the screens and electricity to find the magic of candle-lit evenings and meals simmered on a wood stove. It is the dream address for an unusual, rural and deeply family stay.
Framework & Environment
- Located in Ophemert, in the heart of the Betuwe Valley, a region renowned for its bucolic landscapes of rivers, dikes and orchards as far as you can see.
- The estate is set around a majestic historic farmhouse, surrounded by extensive pastures where more than 100 dairy cows feed.
- An environment of absolute serenity, rhythmic only by the life of the farm, the song of birds and the wind in the trees.
- An ideal location near the Waal River, offering stunning views typically Dutch.
The Farm Experience & Activities
- Immersion on the farm: discover the behind the scenes of a modern dairy farm. Children and parents can attend milking, help feed small calves and learn the secrets of farming.
- The Club des Petits Fermiers: the estate has a pen dedicated to small animals (pins, goats) where children can come in to pet them, brush them and take care of them daily.
- Freedom & Straw games: no cars, no noisy kids clubs! The playground here is 100% natural. Children love climbing on straw balls, building cabins in the woods of the estate or having fun in the mud safely.
Featherdown & Services concept
- Les Logements Tentes (Cottages) : large high-end canvas tents with rustic charm, equipped with real cozy beds (including a very cosy wooden bed), a large sofa, private toilets and a cast iron wood stove.
- Life without electricity: for total disconnection, tents have no electric current. We light up with the oil lantern and candle, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere out of time as soon as the night falls.
- The farm pantry (Honesty Shop): a charming, self-service boutique open 24 hours a day. Here you will find fresh milk from the farm, morning eggs, local meat, fresh bread and artisanal products from the Betuwe to cook your meals.
- Access to private hot showers located in the central farm building.
Discoveries in Proximity
- Betuwe orchards: If you come in spring, you will pedal in the middle of a sea of white and pink flowers (trees in bloom). In summer and autumn, the roadside stalls are full of fresh cherries, strawberries, apples and pears.
- The Waal River (a few minutes away): beautiful river beaches (the Waallistrandjes) perfect for picnicking, making sand castles, watching large cargo boats pass or watching wild horses and cattle at large on the banks.
- Tiel (10 min): one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, famous for its history and mascot "Flipje" (the small cartoon character made of berries), ideal for a cultural outing or an ice break on the terrace.
- Buren (15 min): a magnificent historic fortified town linked to the Dutch royal family, with its ramparts, mills and cobbled streets full of charm.
Good to know
- The charm of Slow Cooking: the cast iron wood stove serves both to heat the tent and to cook. Heating the water from the coffee or cooking your pasta takes a little patience and anticipation... it's the real pleasure to take your time!
- Recharging devices: Electric charging lockers are available at the farm shop for your phones or external batteries if needed.
- Pets (dogs) are accepted upon prior request to share your walks along the dikes.
