Some tips for your holiday at Camping Plitvice Holiday Resort in Rakovica
- Of course you have to go to Plitvice National Park! Walk along the 16 turquoise lakes with dozens of waterfalls that clatter down the limestone rocks. The Veliki Slap (large waterfall) is really impressive: the water falls down 78 meters here. Want to take kids to Plitvice? They'll love it: walking across all the bridges and steps, through the trees and along the lakes spotting all kinds of fish. What an adventure!
- The campsite is closest to the main entrance of the park. This is entrance 1, on the north side of the lakes. You can also park here. What do the online tickets cost during the high season? About 40 euros for adults and 16 euros for children. Kids aged 7 and younger get in free.
- Buy your tickets for Plitvice National Park online in advance. And pack your backpack with these supplies: your photo camera, sunscreen, water, snacks and good hiking shoes. Choose your route on arrival (the shortest takes around 2.5 hours) and also take advantage of the panorama train ride and boat ride through the park, which are included.
- Also beautiful: the Barac cave, 10 kilometers from the Plitvice Holiday Resort campsite. An enthusiastic guide will guide you through the compact stalactite cave and tell you about nature and history in English. The walk takes half an hour. Bring: a coat, because in the cave it is around 9 degrees Celsius.
- Want a morning or afternoon away from the campsite? Then head for Rastoke, a tiny and quiet village with old houses, waterfalls and lots of greenery. It's like being in a fairytale village and it's just a 20-minute drive from your campsite.
- Daredevils go rafting on the Korana, Mrežnica or Una river. Prefer to race through the air? Then add the zip line adventure over the Korana Gorge on the edge of the Plitvice Lakes to your holiday programme.
- Cycling in the area is also recommended. Choose from the many cycle paths and routes in the there.
- Do you want to go horse riding, kayaking, paintballing, archery or fishing? Then walk to the campsite reception and have your favorite outdoor activity organized for you.
