- Feel like a nice trip very close to the campsite? Then head for the town of La Tremblade (3km) with its oyster farms and great seafood restaurants. The part of town that sits by the sea is known as Ronce-les-Bains.
- Looking for that perfect place where the whole family can have a blast? Then go to La Rochelle ( 65km). This beautiful harbour town has marvellous markets to wander around, a great aquarium and National history museum for the kids and a modern port with lots of restaurants. Feeling adventurous? Then take a boat trip from the harbour to the lovely island of Ile-de-Ré.
- Taste a little of the really authentic ambiance of Charente-Maritime and visit the charming island of Ile d’Oléron (31). Wander past picturesque little villages, enjoy endless miles of pristine beaches and drop into a seaside restaurant to sample the region’s famous seafood.
- Interested in French naval history ? Then head for the pretty port of Rochefort (31). Admire the ancient docks of the Arsenal Quarter, catch a glimpse of the replica of the 1779 warship La Frégate Hermione sailing by and learn all about France’s naval history in the Musée National de la Marine.
