- For a great day out close to the campsite, go to Biscarrosse (17km). This popular seaside resort on the Atlantic coast has long stretches of beautiful golden sand and a pretty town centre . Have a delicious, lazy lunch and then relax with the sound of the surf singing in your ears..
- Visit the highest natural sand dunes in Europe. The Dune du Pilat (45km). Let the kids run up to the top and clamber back down. The view is simply stunning! Cool off in the sea and don’t forget to bring a picnic!
- Looking for good beaches suitable for small children? Go to Arcachon (49km). This vibrant little town by the sea has long sandy beaches protected by an inlet, making its waters calmer than other areas along the Atlantic coast. Drop into the pretty town centre for some great shopping and try the local delicacy. Fresh Oysters.
- Wine lovers head for Bordeaux! (84km) One of France’s greatest wine regions. Tickle those taste buds with your favourite tipple. Tuck into the town’s famous Foie Gras and Magret de Canard . Then walk it all off with a gentle stroll around the delightful historic centre, to admire the stunning Grand Theatre and Saint-André Cathedral. Shopaholics will get their thrills in Rue Sainte-Catherine, one of the longest shopping streets in Europe
- Tired of sea, sand and water? Then take the kids to Arcachon Zoo (49km). It’s one of the largest in the Nouvelle Aquitaine and is home to more than 800 animals. Tip: make sure you stop to feed the giraffes with the Zoo’s specially provided snacks. Natural popcorn. It’s a real highlight!
- For a lovely day in some truly stunning nature visit the stunning Parc Naturel Régional des Landes de Gascogne. Hike, bike or take a gentle boat trip through the lush, green surroundings and admire the amazing variety of birds and animals that inhabit this beautiful place.
