Family Camping fun by the beach in Sicily
The beaches in Sicily are spectacular. Soft white sands and turquoise waters. Lido Kiki is just a short walk from the campsite (1km) and very child friendly. Slightly further away (7km) you’ll find one of the area’s most beautiful beaches Tonnarella. For some of most spectacular shorelines in the region, head for San Vito lo Capo beach in Trapani. It’s a truly stunning area, backed by the majestic mountains that surround the town. Want to combine a city trip with a great day by the seaside? Then visit the delightful beaches of Mondello, near the lively capital Palermo. In Sicily there is always a great beach not far from your campsite.
Day trips from your campsite in Sicily
Looking for a great day out close to your campsite? Then visit the lovely town of Marsala. Famous for the sweet wines used for making the well- known marsala sauce. Explore the magnificent countryside in the area and stop at one of its many vineyards. Sicily’s capital Palermo is just over 90 minutes by car, but well worth a visit. Music lovers head for the magnificent opera house Teatro Massimo. A must see is the 12th century architectural masterpiece Cappella Palatina, an impressive and exquisitely decorated chapel. The most popular and well known attraction on the island, the Valley of the Temples is 116 km away from the campsite, in Agrigento (116 km) and most definitely worth seeing if you’re a history and culture lover.
Outdoor Activities in Sicily near your campsite
Sicily has plenty to offer active outdoor enthusiasts. There are some fabulous biking routes from your campsite that snake along the scenic coastline, past olive groves, vineyards and pretty little villages, where you can stop for some lunch. Watersports lovers head for Marsala for excellent windsurfing. Want to catch your own dinner? Hire a boat and rod and explore the waters around the Aegadian Islands. Diving enthusiasts go to Ustica island, just off Palermo. This takes 90 minutes by ferry. Want to go horse riding on the beach? There’s a stable just 6km from your campsite.
Things to see and do near the campsite in Sicily
Fun in or on the water plays a major part in keeping the kids happy in Sicily. Take them to Aquasplash water park in Tre Fontane for a splashing good time. Or on a boat trip from Trapani to the island of Favignana to see the ancient caves (30 minutes). Alternatively pack a picnic and head for a relaxing day out in the Parco dei Monti Sicani nature park by Giuliana. Few places are as friendly to children as Sicily, but parents need spoiling as well. So drop in at the historic cellars of the Donnafugata Winery in Marsala for a memorable wine tasting experience!
