Of course all the clichés you’ve ever heard about Switzerland are true. They make the best chocolate, cheese and clocks and everything runs on time. There’s yodeling and fondues. But there’s also some of the most breathtakingly beautiful scenery you will ever be fortunate enough to see. Crystal clear lakes. Imposing and majestic mountains and stunningly wonderful nature parks. With Zurich, Bern, Basel, Luzern and Geneva it also has some of Europe’s most cosmopolitan and charming cities. Be prepared to brush up on your French, German and Italian as being bordered on several countries make it an extremely multilingual country. The Swiss cuisine is varied and tasty and there’s plenty of clean fresh air in the ultimate great outdoor paradise, the Alps. With all that chocolate, outdoor fun and some spectacular days trips for the kids, Switzerland is the perfect setting for a fantastic family camping holiday.

Witness nature at its most beautiful here and enjoy a memorable day here with unforgettable Alpine views! Cheese lovers should head for the Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut Regional Nature Park. Located near Montreux by the shores of lake Geneva, this amazing area is right in the heart of the Alpine dairy making region.         Cultural highlights near your campsite in Bern, Lausanne, Montreux, Lucerne and Geneva

        There are some delightful cities and towns, full of historical sights and cultural highlights not far from your campsite. Lucerne and Bern are the closest. Lucerne is a fascinating city on the shores of the lake with an amazing ancient chapel bridge, beautiful water tower and a picturesque old town. The country’s capital Bern is a stunning medieval city, some 38km from Lake Thun and is a real haven for modern art lovers. Montreux, on the shores of lake Geneva is famed for its music festival. Geneva itself is a throbbing hub of cultural activity, with its beautiful cathedral of St Pierre a stunning highlight of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. Lovers of medieval architecture head for Lausanne on lake Geneva to admire the Notre dame cathedral.

        Switzerland is famed for its elegant and wonderful lakes. Picturesque Lake Thun lies near the campsite, with its historical towns and charming 12th century castles. Drop into the charming city of Interlaken while the mighty Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains watch over it. The bustling energy of Lake Geneva is slightly further afield, Visit the fabulous town of Montreux, which rests on its shores and is world famous for its music festival. Lake Geneva is a paradise for the whole family, with adventure parks, great shopping and fantastic restaurants. To experience the most scenic variety, visit Lake Lucerne. Take a trip on the old paddle steamers to admire the amazing mountain backdrop that surrounds this majestic lake. Fancy a more the Italian ambiance? Then go slightly further to Lake Lugano or Lake Maggiore.

        Great trips for all the family from your campsite

        Fun for the kids in Switzerland usually involves outdoor activities. Take them to the thrilling tree top adventure park Outdoor Interlaken in the Wagern Gorge, not far from the campsite. Tackle 9 different courses with the impressive mount Eiger as a backdrop. Chocolates lovers beware. Prepare to be spoiled, on the chocolate train that runs from Montreux to the Gruyere region of Switzerland. Alternatively do the Lindt chocolate tour by Lake Zurich. Visit the highest train station in the world with the Jungfraujoch Railway and go 3454 metres up for spectacular views. For the most spectacular lunch ever, take the cable car from the alpine village of Murren up to the Schilthorn summit. Then return to the comfort of your campsite for another pleasant and leisurely evening.
