Some tips for your holiday at Camping Brunssummerheide in Brunssum

    • The Visitor Centre is the perfect starting point for an introduction to the Brunssumerheide. Listen to the croaking frogs and singing tree larks. Discover the Observatory, the Heksenberg and the Sheepfold. Climb a tree, picnic in the sand, and admire wild orchids. This is a rare, beautiful area.
    • Do you see balls of white wool sliding through the landscape? Then you have spotted the Schoonebeek flock of sheep. The diligent grazers who keep the heath neatly open.
    • Of course, you’ll also go into the much-acclaimed hills. South Limburg is a piece of foreign land in the low Netherlands; a vast green undulating landscape with winding roads, hillside forests and farms from another time. A living painting!
    • Visit the marl caves in Valkenburg. Go underground with a guide and enter the unique Velvet Cave. And then settle down on a terrace in the centre that looks like an old French town.
    • The bustling city of Heerlen is close by. Once a tough mining town, this is now a cultural hotspot that pumps a whole new life through the streets. Museums, street art, murals, shopping streets, festivals, events, and theatres. Heerlen has it.
    • Can the children choose? Gaia Zoo in Kerkrade is one of the most beautiful zoos in the Netherlands. But they will also love a ride in an ancient steam train, on the so-called Miljoenlijn rail track. Do they dream of wandering through a real castle in knight or damsel fashion? Then make sure you visit the beloved Hoensbroek Castle.
    • Visit the three-country point in Vaals where you can look out over the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany from the Wilhelminatoren tower. A visit to the beautiful German city of Aachen is also a good idea.
    • Go to Maastricht for a day. Stroll via the 13th-century Sint Servaasbrug over the Maas to the historic centre, and settle down at a Burgundian café on the five-star Vrijthof square.
