Some tips for your holiday at Camping De Koog in De Cocksdorp

    • Would you like to admire the diamonds of Texel's natural treasures? Enter the De Slufter nature reserve, a bird breeding and bird resting area that has an open connection with the North Sea. Follow the path from the Sluftertrap through the salt marshes to the beach.
    • The natural beauties are not only on dry land. Join a cruise on the Wadden Sea from the harbor of Oudeschild. For an extra special cruise you can board a shrimp boat or the Loodsbotter Texelstroom, an authentic sailing ship from 1906.
    • Besides nature tasters, Texel is also the host of seals. Spot them in Ecomare (3km) and learn everything about nature on Texel and the Wadden Sea World Heritage. Guided campaigns or better said mudflats are also possible; dare to walk on the mudflats and look for crabs.
    • In addition to natural treasures, Texel is also home to a wealth of maritime history. Discover old shipwrecks in the interactive open-air museum Museum Kaap Skil in Oudeschild. Or be amazed by things that have washed up on the beach in the Maritime and Beachcombers Museum Flora.
    • The mainland also preserves a book full of history. The Wagenmuseum Waelstee in De Waal exhibits a mega collection of farm wagons and carriages. In the Oudheidkamer Texel in Den Burg, you can also browse one of the oldest houses on Texel from 1599!
    • It's always time for ice cream! At Ice Farm Labora in De Cocksdorp you can taste traditional ice cream, which comes straight from the Texel dairy cows. Spot all 120 of them in the barn where they are milked by milking robots!
    • Not only milk is 'homemade' on Texel. The Texel Brewery in Oudeschild brews 12 Texel specialty beers, one of which you can taste upon arrival. Those who like a longer fermentation will be delighted with a Juttertje, the Texel herb bitters.
